When Versace released Versace Eros eau de toilette (EDT), it created a fragrance that became synonymous with club culture. This was based on the fragrance’s ad campaign which proved successful due to the perfume’s popularity.
Therefore, it came as no surprise when Versace released the first flanker, Eros Flame Versace, which was followed by Versace Eros eau de parfum (EDP) a few years later.

Versace Eros: Release timeline
The first release of the Versace Eros fragrances was in 2012 with the Versace Eros EDT. Created by the acclaimed perfumer Aurélien Guichard, this fragrance subsequently led to the release of two other fragrances, but Versace arguably took its time developing the other fragrances in the Versace Eros canon.
The first flanker, Eros Flame Versace, was introduced six years after the original, in 2018. The nose design of the scent was by Olivier Pescheux. Two years later, in 2020, Versace Eros EDP was released.

The fragrance collection is touted because of the story associated with the release of the first fragrance.
Explained in the initial ad campaign, the story was, “…Eros inspired by and deeply connected with Greek mythology. The aim of this edition is to reveal and release unrestrained passion and to accentuate desire. The fragrance was named after Greek god of love and son of goddess Aphrodite – Eros.”
The male fragrance was touted as the fragrance for a wild night out or an ideal scent to wear mostly in winter.
Similarly, the EDP version was considered a more concentrated version of the original, especially after the reformulation of the EDT.
Therefore, for the most part, deciding between the EDP and EDT is a question of preference as the perfumes are two sides of the same coin.
It is the Eros Flame that is usually pitted against the other two, as this scent is believed to offer a more mature scent than the other Versace Eros fragrances in the canon.
