Which Guerlain L’Homme Ideal is best?

Below we discuss our top three picks of the best L’Homme Ideal fragrances by Guerlain, including the elusive L’Homme Ideal EDP, and what happened to it.

Guerlain is one of the oldest fragrance houses, established as a family business in 1828. Founded in Paris by Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain.

Guerlain was a master perfumer who created fragrances for the rich and famous with a clientele that, at the time, included Queen Victoria.

The business was run by five generations since its inception, until it was sold to the multinational company, LVMH, in 1994.

One of their most popular fragrance ranges is the L’Homme Ideal, which, to date, has five scents in the collection. Below we share our top picks from the range.

How many fragrances has Guerlain created?

With a history that spans over 184 years, including the five generations of Guerlains running the family business and the 18 years that it was run by the multinational company, LVMH, the celebrated fragrance house is believed to have made over 325 fragrances to date.

The business was started as a fragrance house but throughout the years, the company has diversified.

The company now also sells beauty products, including the lip balm, Baume de la Ferté, which is available today. Despite this, the company is still lauded for its scents.

Which Guerlain L’Homme Ideal is best?

Guerlain’s L’Homme Ideal is a fragrance line designed for a male clientele. This is emphasised by the name of the range which, when translated into English, means “ideal man.” T

his is further evident in the fact that the ethos of the fragrance line is, “The ideal man is a myth. His fragrance, a reality. Guerlain decodes men’s aspirations and creates for them a concentrate of ideal with a captivating and mysterious almond for men.”

The first official release from the L’Homme Ideal range was the 2014 L’Homme Ideal. In 2016, Guerlain released the second fragrance of the range, L’Homme Ideal Eau de Parfum, which caused a stir at the time of its release.

This was as the fragrance did not follow the convention of its other popular fragrances.

Instead of being a more intense or lighter version of the original fragrance, the L’Homme Ideal (EDP) was completely different from its predecessor.

As a result, what could have been a big mistake on the company’s part actually worked to their advantage, as the fragrance garnered its own popularity.

The success of these two fragrances can be attributed to the continuous release of new fragrances in the range, which have been released in two-year intervals, for the most part.

Below is a list of our top three Guerlain L’Homme Ideal scents to purchase.
