When Viktor & Rolf released Spicebomb in 2012, it was the second male fragrance that the fashion house released since its inception. The fragrance became so popular that it spawned a flanker in the years that followed called Spicebomb Extreme.
The fragrance continued Spicebomb’s legacy as one of the popular canon fragrances for men. However, for a while it was believed that the fragrance was discontinued or reformulated, but this is not true, and the fragrance is still widely available.
Claims of its reformulation have also been dismissed by the company.

Viktor & Rolf is a luxury designer fashion house that is known for creating avant-garde, unorthodox designs. Their first entry into the world of fragrances was with their flagship female fragrance, Flowerbomb, which was released in 2005.
They then released their first fragrance for men in 2006, called Antidote. Their second fragrance for men, Spicebomb, was where the company struck gold.
The company then expanded their Spicebomb canon by introducing a new flanker fragrance, Spicebomb Extreme, in 2015. In the seven years since, the fragrance has acquired its own clientele and fan-base.
Has Spicebomb Extreme been discontinued?
When Spicebomb Extreme, the fragrance for men, was released, it affirmed why the fragrance was touted as “extreme.”
The amber spicy fragrance was considered a longer-lasting, deeper, and more intense fragrance than the original, which bode well with regard to the fragrance creating its own demographic of buyers.

But as of June 2022, the matter has been resolved and it has been proven unfactual. Spicebomb Extreme by Viktor & Rolf is now widely available on retailers like Amazon, for instance, which is selling the fragrance from $91.26 for a 50ml bottle.
However, there are other Amazon market stores that have various prices and bottles of the perfume available for sale.
Moreover, in the fragrance’s description, Amazon does assert that the fragrance has not been discontinued by the manufacturer.
Has Spicebomb Extreme been reformulated?
Viktor & Rolf also faced speculation about its popular Spicebomb Extreme fragrance for men with regard to whether the fragrance has been reformulated or not.
The practice of reformulating fragrances is not uncommon in the fragrance industry. As such, companies are not compelled to share if they have reformulated their fragrances or not.
Hence, even though Viktor & Rolf denied these claims, lovers of the fragrance are polarised. In 2021, the company denied the allegations, writing in a response email:
“Thank you for contacting Viktor & Rolf Fragrances. That is a great question and we would be happy to assist you. The Spicebomb Extreme has not been reformulated, we have not changed it at all. We only changed the Spicebomb Night Vision. We hope this information has been useful.”
